Karel has created the electronic telephone switchboard market in Turkey in 1986 with its original designs, brought PBX products to this market and became the leader in Turkey for transition from electro-mechanical systems to electronic communication systems. Karel was founded by hundred percent domestic capital, and has Turkey's most developed R&D in communications electronics area; and has world-class manufacturing facilities and standards. Today, it is Turkey's market leader brand which exports products and technology to over 30 countries. It is shown among the brands in the "Turkey's most valuable 100 brands" that Brand-Finance, one of the world's renown and trusted institutions, prepares every year.

Karel is among Turkey's second 500 industry establishments. Karel has around 1200 employees, is open to public and has a corporate management; and its success is measured by creating a world-class company by competing with world-giant manufacturing companies of countries of developed economies, in a sector like telecommunications where high R&D power and investment is required, and lesser developed countries are not even in as users.

According to all International and National Survey Institution reports, it is the Turkey leader in PBX by far. Today, over 600 thousand establishments use Karel switchboard. OVer 50% of workplace communication traffic in Turkey is conducted over Karel systems. According to Informatics 500 Survey 2013 results, which is Turkey's most important Informatics survey, it has the first place in Turkey PBX category and also it is selected the Largest Informatics Manufacturer Based in Turkey. And according to international survey reports, it has Middle East and Africa Region market leadership, and also it is the 3rd biggest PBX manufacturer in Europe, and 15th biggest in the world.
